Research
In 1936, the National Institute of Geophysics (ING) was founded by Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of the wireless telegraph system based on radio waves, president at the time of the CNR Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.
The aim of the National Institute of Geophysics was to investigate other sectors of terrestrial physics, such as ionospheric physics, atmospheric electricity and terrestrial, natural radiation and atmospheric optics, geomagnetism.

Science
The current National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) was founded in 1999, from the confluence in ING of the main Italian geophysical and volcanological research institutes: the Vesuvian Observatory of Naples, the IIV of Catania, the IGF of Palermo and the IRRS of Milan.
INGV carries out scientific research in the fields of geophysics and geochemistry, seismology, volcanology and space meteorology.

Patents
SPACEARTH Technology (SET) has been estabilished in Italy on the initiative of a group of researchers and scientists, as a spin-off company of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
The aim of the group, which led on 2014 to the spin-off company, was to promote the INGV's patents and leverage its research results, while maintaining a strong link with the Institute and strengthening its standing.
Currently we are present in vertical markets through two line of products and solutions: SPACEARTH Technology and SPACEARTH NAV.

Innovation
SPACEARTH has become a completely private company since 2019, in order to enhance the patents already owned and to develop new ones. We provide, in cooperation with universities, research centers and major organizations all around Europe, scientifically grounded consulting services.
SPACEARTH Technology, since the beginning, designs and developes advanced applications for geomorphological, structural and lithologic investigations, using optical and radar remote sensing data, from satellite and airborne platforms.
Navigation
SPACEARTH NAV was founded on 2023 to ensure the accuracy and reliability of satellite navigation technologies in an increasingly complex space environment.
SPACEARTH NAV delivers advanced solutions to protect GNSS-based systems from the impacts of space weather and ionospheric disturbances. We help ensure the continuity, accuracy, and reliability of satellite navigation technologies in an increasingly complex space environment.
